WHAT IS A MASTER CLASS?
A master class is a chance for students to come together and work with each other and a “master” instructor. It is an opportunity to learn from their peers, while being guided by an expert in their field.
We believe that these classes are an important part of the learning process.
There are two goals in these Master Classes:
1) To further elaborate on concepts in musical theory covered in private lessons
2) To present what we have been working on individually to the group – this may be a work in progress or a final performance of a piece
Another part of the music development process is the idea of ensemble. Expressing and learning music in a group stimulates creativity, ensures that each person knows his or her part well enough to truly listen to the others, introduces the concepts of cohesion and interaction, and is just plain fun!

ADDITIONAL NOTES
-Master Classes will be recorded for educational purposes. All participants must sign a media release form. If a student wishes to have a record of a class, they may purchase a DVD for a nominal fee.
-Parents are welcome to participate in the class. However, they may not just watch from the sidelines, as this distracts from the group dynamic.
